Today the puppies get treats! This is my first time baking dog treats, so decided try something simple.
Peanut Butter Dog Cookies
* 2 cups – whole wheat flour
* 1 cup – oats
* 1/3 cup – smooth peanut butter
* 1 1/4 cups – hot water
* (extra flour for kneading and rolling)
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350F
Preparation: Mix dry ingredients first and then add the peanut butter and the hot water. Add more flour if dough is sticky (I added about a handful more of flour). Knead dough well.
Roll out the dough on the prepared floured area. It should be about 1/4″ thick.
Use cookie cutters to cut dough into shapes. (I didn’t have any dog-themed cookie cutters, but upon consulting with the dogs, they said they would eat the cookies anyway….*sigh*).
Place cookies on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for about 40 minutes. Once ready, allow cookies to completely cool off on a wire rack.
I made teeny tiny treats with the leftover dough that can be used as training treats!
Tulipa sampled the treats first and thoroughly approved!
